SMSGT Jesse Burdette Greathouse, USAF retired, passed away at home, surrounded by his family on November 13th, 2016. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 27th from 5-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road in Universal City, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 28th at 10:00 am at Colonial Funeral Home. SMSGT Jesse Burdette Greathouse, USAF retired, passed away at home, surrounded by his family on November 13th, 2016. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 27th from 5-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road in Universal City, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 28th at 10:00 am at Colonial Funeral Home. Born in Spring Valley Illinois, to parents Fred Greathouse and Tacy (Morris) Greathouse, Jesse was the youngest of four children. He married Jean Elizabeth Wolf on August 6, 1949. Jesse served 21 years in the United States Air Force, and during that time was stationed in Germany, England, and at The Pentagon in Washington D.C. Upon retirement, he went on to work Civil Service at Randolph Air Force Base until his final retirement.

During his retirement, Jesse became an avid golfer winning several Senior Course Championships. He made his first Hole-In-One on Loma Golf Course at Ft. Sam Houston on Hole #12, on October 17, 2001. He also "beat his age" many times after turning age 70. Jesse was very athletic and while in the service, he won several Air Force Intramural Championships playing golf, horse shoes, bowling, baseball and basketball. He also was the Commissioner of the Oxen Hill Boys Club while in Washington, D.C. and also coached Little League Baseball.

Jesse is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean Greathouse, his three children; Jay Greathouse (Cyndie), Jon Greathouse (Dee Dee), daughter Jill Greathouse York, his four grandchildren, Nick York, Amanda Greathouse Holman (Jeremy Holman), Samantha Greathouse Ledoux (Wesley Ledoux), and Tamra Greathouse. Jesse has one great-grandson, Bryson Holman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
