Shawn Michael Sandlin of San Antonio, Texas passed away at home on September 11, 2017. He was born July 10, 1938 to Troy and Ava (Hubbard) Sandlin at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Mr. Sandlin served in the United States Army for over 20 years where he achieved the grade of Chief Warrant Officer 2. During his time on active duty, he served several tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with three devices. Following his retirement from the military, Chief Sandlin worked for the U.S. Civil Service as a Federal Agent.

Mr. Sandlin is preceded in death by his parents and by a daughter, Carmen Moria Sandlin. He is survived by his spouse of 58 years, Haydee Camacho Sandlin; children Sean Michael Sandlin and Kathleen Sandlin-Davis; grandchildren Ava, Yvonne, Leanna and Nathaniel; great-grandchildren Cameron, Lana and Evelyn; sister, Margaret Carter; brother, David Sandlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in his memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html
